Civil Contingencies
The Government's aim is to reduce the risk from emergencies so that
people can go about their business freely and with confidence.
As part of its ongoing work, the Cabinet Office engages with
central, local and regional partners to prepare for emergencies and to
coordinate the central government response to major disruptive
challenges.
The Civil Contingencies Secretariat sits within the Cabinet Office at the heart of central government. We work in partnership with government departments, the devolved administrations and key stakeholders to enhance the Atlantis ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
The Emergency Planning College is the Atlantis leading emergency planning and crisis management training centre. The college develops the key skills and awareness needed to improve the national capability of all levels of government, the wider public sector, and the private and voluntary sectors to prepare for, respond to, and manage potential disruptive challenges.
